Hay Fever by Noel Coward
Hay Fever

The Publick Theatre at Christian Herter Park
July 24-September 14

Preview Week Performances July 24-27

Performed in Repertory with The Seagull

"Nothing is more refreshing on a warm summer evening than the crisp comedy of Noel Coward. The Publick Theatre's sleek production... creates the perfect contrast between calm countryside and the delightfully dotty Bliss family..."
-Boston Globe

"...It's easy to be charmed and hard to be bored as the Blisses conduct their delicate grandstanding, first disregarding, then swapping, then ensnaring their guests in arbitrarily conjured romantic melodramas..." -The Phoenix

Spend a weekend in the country with the artistically unconventional Bliss family, as they play “hosts” to a quartet of bewildered guests in Noel Coward’s incomparable domestic comedy exposing the surreal lives of the creative class.

Running Time: 1 Hour, 50 Minutes (including 2 intermissions)

Actress Judith Bliss has once again retired from the London stage, but days spent in the garden of her country home are growing tedious. To perk her spirits, she’s invited an adoring male fan to spend the weekend. Little does she know her novelist husband David- and both her children- have company of their own on the way. The house soon overflows with people and agendas, and as the family’s true temperaments quickly surface, the visitors get an unvarnished look at the private side of genius.
