The contrasting memories of an itinerant Irish healer, his enduring wife, and business manager pose searing questions about the power of art to simultaneously deceive and inspire, to ruin and to heal.

As Frank Hardy works the village guild hall circuit throughout Britain, his mysterious but sporadic power to cure the infirm provokes him to question his own true nature. Is he blessed, a con man, or perhaps both?

A series of separate, interconnected monologues contrast Frank’s memories against the resentments of his wife, Grace, and the colorful recollections of his long-time manager Teddy. Together they tell a deeply hypnotic tale of a charismatic man's power to both sustain and destroy the lives around him.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Nora Hussey has been directing and teaching in New England since 1981.She has received numerous awards and commendations in those years including a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Independent Reviewers of New England in 2005. She is the founding Artistic Director of the critically acclaimed Wellesley Summer Theatre Company which began in 1998.

Recent productions were the Boston premiere of The Mai and a fresh rendition of the American classic Our Town. She has been the Director of Theatre at Wellesley College since 1990 and has seen many of her students go on to rich full lives in the theatre world. She was born in County Kerry Ireland, and is married to fellow Gael Kieran Brennan. They have one son, currently at university in the wilds of Montana.
